"Cocoon" is about a guy who falls in love with a "good girl" - everyone else thinks she's too good for him, and the song details how they slowly become more alike. It appears on Catfish and the Bottlemen's debut album The Balcony. In an interview with NME, frontman Van McCann describes the writing process as beginning during his life if New York when he was 21: "It was just this kind of tune about like, fuck what anybody else wants for you or thinks you should do, life is whatever you want, there is no right or wrong way of doing it. So be whoever you want to be and let your mates be whoever they want to be and don't worry about it. It's just a tune about looking that way, and anyone else that's looking that way, fuck them."
