1539 N. Calvert
Track
Rapping aggressively over a quasi pop-trap beat, “1539 N. Calvert” serves as a perfect introduction to Peggy’s sophomore studio album “Veteran“. The track introduces many of the record’s themes, including physical violence, and a hatred for both conservative ideals and music bloggers.
The song’s title refers to the street address of the now-shuttered Bell Foundry, a former studio and recording space in Baltimore that also regularly hosted live music. Several notable figures from the Baltimore underground scene frequented the spot, including DRAM, Grimes & JPEG himself. Read more on Last.fm.
