Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I still monetize my YouTube video if I use music from Lickd?

Absolutely, yes! Lickd is the first copyrighted music licensing platform that allows you to use great music AND avoid demonetization, with built-in protection from copyright claims.

As a YouTube partner, we integrate directly into YouTube’s Content ID to tell YouTube you’ve got permission to use a track. If YouTube still decides to put a claim on your video, we’re able to squash it’s ugly little head for you, so you have nothing to worry about.

  • How do I use a Lickd license?

Once you’ve purchased a license from Lickd, you’ll get an MP3 download to add to your video.

When you’re ready to upload your video to YouTube, simply:

Copy and paste your license attribution into your video description
Upload your video as “Unlisted” with plenty of time before your video goes public.
This allows us time to clear any potential claims for you without affecting your video. Once sorted, you can put your video live with confidence!

Of course you’ll get these instructions again when you purchase 🙂

  • Why do I need to create an account and link a YouTube channel?

Most importantly, connecting your YouTube channel allows us to whitelist your channel for stock music use and clear copyright claims on licensed music!

Secondly, our pricing model is built based on your average video views. This makes music affordable for everyone, even if you’re just starting your content creation journey!

  • Do you have all the music in the world?

There are over 1.4 million tracks available to you on Lickd, but we’re still working on getting some big artists like Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, and Taylor Swift. It’s our goal to get all 25M top tracks available to you, but that requires us to get those rights from the copyright owners, which takes time!

We’re the only ones fighting to get you equal access to copyrighted music. By joining Lickd now, you’ll help make that happen. Help us help you!

  • Can I use Lickd for music channels or lyric videos?

In short, no. Our ‘premium’ copyrighted music licenses do not permit the songs to be used for lyric videos or by themselves as an ‘art track’ (for example, with just an image of the album artwork, a black screen, static images, stock footage, etc).

That’s because our licenses have been created for those who need background music for their original video content. The type of videos described above are deemed not to use songs as background music for content, but simply as a way for viewers to stream the song itself. This is copyright infringement and therefore cannot be covered by our licenses. This restriction also concerns AI-generated lyric videos.
